Jamie Cavanaugh is an interaction designer, educator, writer, and entrepreneur. As an educator for over ten years, she is interested in advancing lifelong learning and design education and is actively developing teaching and learning resources for designers. For over seven years, she has been an Associate Professor of Interaction Design at Santa Monica College. Most recently, she led the development of and is faculty lead for the new Interaction Design Bachelor’s degree in the Graphic Design Program at SMC. She is a former Assistant Chair of the Design Technology Department and is the past Chair of both the Distance Education and the Information Services committees at SMC.
Jamie has also taught Interaction Design at ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena. Prior to teaching, she worked as an Interactive Producer with KBDA, an award-winning communication design studio in Los Angeles. Since 2003, Jamie has owned her own business where she has worked on a wide range of interactive projects for clients such as USC and The Huntington.
